Foreign body removal for dogs and cats in Miami, FL

Foreign Body Removal

Dogs and cats sometimes swallow objects that cannot pass safely through the digestive system. Toys, fabric, bones, string, plastic, and other items may become lodged in the mouth, throat, stomach, or intestines and cause a potentially serious obstruction.

Signs of a foreign body may include vomiting, loss of appetite, abdominal pain, lethargy, excessive drooling, difficulty swallowing, diarrhea, constipation, or repeated attempts to vomit without producing anything.

Our veterinary team may use X-rays, ultrasound, endoscopy, or other diagnostic tools to locate the object. Depending on its size and location, removal may be performed through endoscopy or surgery.

If you believe your pet may have swallowed something dangerous, call Kendall Drive Animal Hospital immediately at (305) 388-8881.
